Based on the iconic, small-wheeled Monkey Bike, the new Honda MSX125 is made for a new breed of riders. It represents the perfect mix between a full sized motorcycle and a mini-bike, with performance matched for confident handling and styling thatcombines a sense of fun with a tough, urban edge. It’s stylish, compact, and practical design will ensure it leaves heads turning.
The chassis makes for a practical bike that riders can use and park easily in an urban environment. It also makes it fun to use out of town, and can readily accept a pillion.
The structure has enabled efficient storage of essential parts inside the tank cover without reducing fuel capacity (5.5 litres). Wheelbase is a snug 1200mm, with rake and trail of 250 and 81mm and kerb weight of 101.7kg. And with a low seat height of 765mm, holidaymakers will find it easy to transport and use.
The bike sports 12-inch cast aluminium wheels, which feature wide 2.5-inch rims. The new ‘Y’ shaped spokes not only look great but also save weight, and the front 120/70-12 and 130/70-12 rear tyres inject a different dynamic in terms of looks and performance.
The 125cc two-valve air-cooled engine is based on one of Honda’s most proven power units and has won universal praise over the last decade for fuel efficiency and durability. The four-speed gearbox is managed via manual clutch and offers smooth and consistent gear changes. The 15T gearbox sprocket and 12-inch wheels deliver lively around-town response plus the ability to travel slowly in a high gear – perfect for threading easily through tight traffic.
The LCD digital dash is easy to read for its compact size, and delivers all the information the rider needs – speedometer, twin trip meters, fuel gauge and clock. You can reset the trip meter and clock, or alternate between the odometer and trip meter via the switches, on either side of the display.
The combined projector headlight uses a single light source (an HS1 35W/35W double filament bulb) instead of a pair of bulbs for both high and low beam. The low beam is generated by the upper projection unit and the high beam is produced by multi-reflectors, which spread out in its lower section. A subtle blue light flanks the projector lens and adds visibility while the bright LED taillight melts seamlessly into the bike’s silhouette.
